  Booked through holiday autos and opted to take their insurance cover. When I got to the airport (Alicante) we were seen right away. I did get told that the insurance I had taken out through holiday auto was not recommended by them and to be "fully covered" I should take their insurance. However they then said this was an additional 36 euros A DAY :-/. I didn't take this and to be fair the staff was not pushy like other companies. If you do not take this additional cover make sure you check over the existing damage to make sure they have not missed anything. My one negative comments about this is at the multi story car park in Alicante. It is very dark and dull so some damage might not be visible without a close inspections. Also driving out of this car park is challenging if you have not drive a left hand drive card before due to the "tight" 90 degree corners you have to navigate around.

  Bottom line: If you're looking to rent a car, look somewhere else. Anywhere else.

  I rented an Audi A3 convertible but was given a VW Beetle and no refund or discount. I specifically booked this vehicle and was told by the call centre that it would be available. The Beetle was not listed on the website as a vehicle in that category. Furthermore, the car smelled and was not cleaned. Writing and calling the company resulted in no reply, which is why I am here writing this review 17 days later after hearing nothing back.

  Rental from Alicante. As previous reviewer mentions....people queued up at other rental companies who were much cheaper than Sixt but clearly this would have resulted in a longer process. We also had a choice of vehicle and wonder whether other companies would have offered this. Car was clean and we had no problems during the 11 day hire. Return was easy. We were a bit anxious as car hire in Spain seems to be notorious for problems but we had none with Sixt. Would use again.

  We booked online with Sixt because their rating was so good and now appreciate why. On a busy Saturday at Alicante airport, when my brother who had booked with an alternative hire firm had had to wait for three hours with young children for his car, we sailed through swiftly and efficiently with Sixt. The vehicle was very good and the staff competent and friendly. Would definitely recommend Sixt and book with them again.

  I opted for full to full. However, when visiting the petrol station outside the airport the fuel pump did not work correctly. I was not sure if this is a problem with the car or fuel pipe? Handing the car back was very quick just hand over the keys and that is it. I mentioned about the fuel and they said they can take a look and let me know. Getting home I was expecting massive fine/charge for not filling to full. However to my surprise this was 6 euros.
